The Avant-Garde Studies group is a forum for discussing the historical avant-garde (Futurism, Dada, Surrealism, etc.) and other forms of experimentation in 19th and 20th-century literature and art.
We have the following sessions planned for the Winter Semester 2025/26:
- 28 October 2025: Wallace Stevens, ‘The Man with the Blue Guitar’
- 25 November 2025: The Heteronyms of Fernando Pessoa
- 20 January 2026: Expressionist Architecture Between Utopia and the Market
- 10 February 2026: Marcel Duchamp, the Readymade and Other Activities
All meetings take place from 7-8.30 pm in Room 104 at the Centre for British Studies, HU Berlin, Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Str. 60, 10117 Berlin.
